White Christmas Tree

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? It looks like we won't be having one here in Metro Vancouver, but that doesn't mean I can't make it a white Christmas on paper, right? I used the same technique with the scallop circle punch (see my previous post) to make this snowy tree. I just sponged the edges of the scallops a bit with Old Olive ink.

May your Christmas be filled with joy and peace!

Supplies:
Stamps: none
Paper: Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Brushed Silver, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Old Olive, Whisper White
Accessories: Northern Frost embossing folder, Basic Jewels, Scallop Circle Punch, Ticket Corner Punch, Star Punch (retired)

Scallop Circle Christmas Tree Card

Hi Stampers! Sorry for my prolonged absence from blogging recently; as you know, this time of year can get crazy. I do love the Christmas season, and have been enjoying time spent with family and friends, as well as some relaxing time off. We went to check out the Vancouver German Christmas Market this evening; the sights, sounds and smells of this traditional German-style market were lovely. It's definitely a must-do if you're in the Vancouver area.

The card I'm sharing with you today has an awesome 3-D effect, and actually comes together pretty quickly and easily. I first saw this idea for a scallop circle tree on Dawn's blog. She has a great video on how to make it. These trees are a lot of fun to make, and a bit addictive once you get going. Check back tomorrow to see a "snowier" version of this tree.

Supplies:
Stamps: Christmas Collage, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Old Olive, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight
Ink: Early Espresso, Real Red
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, Star Punch (retired), Crop-a-Dile, Dazzling Diamonds

Door with Wreath Card

I thought this idea of card that looks like a door with a wreath was too cute and clever when I saw it on LeeAnn Greff's blog and had to give it a go. LeeAnn's door was white, but I thought I would make mine from Crumb Cake cardstock so I could use my Woodgrain background stamp. The wreath image is from Northern Hearts, a level one hostess set available until December 31 in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Northern Hearts, Tiny Tags
Ink: Real Red, Old Olive, Soft Suede
Paper: Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Whisper White
Accessories: Jewelry Tag Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4'' Circle Punch, silver brad

Got Merry? Gingerbread Man

Here's another quick and simple card to share with you today. This little gingerbread man from the Got Treats? stamp set just puts a smile on my face. The Got Treats set was designed to coordinate with Stampin' Up's mini milk carton die, but the images can certainly be used on cards as well. I coloured in his buttons at first, but I wasn't happy with how it looked, so I added some bling. Much better! To get the smaller size punched with the Word Window, I stamped the sentiment, punched it out with the Word Window punch, then put the end with the excess cardstock in one side of the punch again and punched that side only. Hope that makes sense!

Have a great day!

Supplies:
Stamps: Got Treats?, Punch Pals
Paper: Real Red, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink: Soft Suede, Old Olive
Accessories: 1-3/4 Scallop Circle Punch, 2-3/8 Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/8 Circle Punch, 1-1/4 Circle Punch, Word Window Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder

2-Step Bird Punch Christmas Cardinal

Here is another card we made at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack this past weekend. The idea of using the 2-step bird punch to make a cardinal isn't mine; I think I first saw it on Becky Jensen's blog. I used a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker to draw in the detail on the bird's face, and a white gel pen for the eye. A bit of sponging around the edges of the bird adds depth, and the point on his head is simply another wing stuck behind the head. I found that the weight of the grosgrain ribbon didn't work well for this ruffled ribbon treatment; it lifted off the adhesive after a few days, so I changed the look of the ribbon to a knot for the class.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Contempo Christmas
Paper: Crumb Cake, Real Red
Ink: Real Red, Early Espresso, Old Olive
Accessories: 2-Step Bird Punch, Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon (retired), Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, Signo White Gel Pen

Dasher Christmas Card

Dasher is one of my all-time favourite Christmas stamps from Stampin' Up! He is graceful and elegant, and yet he also evokes the fun and magic of the Christmas season. This is fairly quick and simple card that we will be making at my upcoming Christmas Stamp-a-Stack.

I cased the layout from Becky Jensen. Dasher is stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla cardstock. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the sentiment in just the right spot. I ran the Riding Hood Red layer through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, and sponged it lightly on the raised parts with Early Espresso ink. This really makes the texture pop! I spritzed some Champagne Mist shimmer mist all over for a bit of glow.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Dasher, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Early Espresso ribbon, Basic Rhinestones, Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla wide ribbon (retired), Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder

Clean & Simple: Contempo Christmas

I love this stamp set! It lends itself well to clean and simple cards, which is a style I lean towards most of the time. Right now you can get Contempo Christmas, along with the Jolly Holidays Designer Paper, in a bundle for 20% off! What a great deal. I used the Scallop Rectangle Clearlit to make the Real Red mat for the stamped tree. It isn't quite big enough to fit the tree, so I die cut one and one half scallop rectangles, and pieced them together behind the Very Vanilla piece.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Contempo Christmas
Paper: Old Olive, Real Red, Very Vanilla
Ink: Old Olive, Real Red, Early Espresso
Accessories: Basic Rhinestone, Scallop Rectangle Clearlit, Scallop Border Punch

Northern Flurry Christmas Card

Now that Halloween has passed, I am gearing up for Christmas! Here is a Christmas card I made recently with some new products from the Holiday Mini Catalogue. I sponged the snowflakes on the embossed background piece lightly with Whisper White Craft Ink and a sponge dauber. It's hard to tell from the photo, but I also added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to them with the 2-Way Glue Pen. The little white snowflake above the greeting is from the Northern Frost Decorative Strip. This product offers great value as it gives you eight different snowflakes on one Big Shot die! A few rhinestones on the centres of the snowflakes add shine.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Northern Flurry Embossing Folder, Northern Frost Decorative Strip, Curly Label Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Basic Rhinestones, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Kraft Taffeta Ribbon (retired)

Halloween Mini Milk Carton

The Got Treats stamp set is so much fun; it was designed to coordinate with the Mini Milk Carton Bigz die, but I've also seen some fun cards made with it. This cute little Halloween treat holder came together quickly. The scallop mat behind the pumpkin is two scallop square punches cut to fit.

Thanks for visiting!

Supplies:
Stamps: Got Treats
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Chocolate Chip markers; Basic Black
Accessories: Mini Milk Carton Bigz XL die, mini clip, googly eyes

Happy Harvest

We had Thanksgiving here in Canada this past Monday, and I wanted to whip up a little treat for my dinner guests to take home with them. I saw the idea for this blessing mix and box here on Angie Juda's blog, and thought it was just so cute. I tweaked the mix a bit to include cashews (although we usually have Bugles corn chips in Canada, for some reason I couldn't find them anywhere last week). The box was quick and easy to put together and put a smile on my guests' faces.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

A Touch of Paris

What a gorgeous stamp set Artistic Etchings is; the images are romantic and classic, with just the right touch of vintage. It coordinates beautifully with the En Francais background stamp. To get a more subtle look, I stamped off both the medallion and the key images once on scrap paper before stamping on the cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: En Francais, Artistic Etchings
Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze
Accessories: Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Early Espresso 1/8'' Taffeta Ribbon

School Punch Art

Hi there! Sorry for my lack of posting lately...the pictures above say it all. The start of the school year is insanely busy for teachers (and I know it is for parents, as well). Here is my September calendar page with some back-to-school punch art. I hand drew the notebook paper with Stampin' Write markers.

Enjoy!

Supplies:
Stamps: Best Wishes & More (retired), Tart & Tangy
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla, Brushed Silver
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Accessories: Spiral Border Punch, Large Oval Punch, Small Oval Punch, Word Window Punch, silver brad

Whooo Loves the Owl Punch?

This adorable owl was made using the new Two-Step Owl Punch; when I saw this punch in the new catalogue, I knew it was going to the top of my must-have list right away. These 3x3'' cards
came together easily and quickly with a few key tools; the owl punch, the branch from the Two-Step Bird Punch, and the Woodgrain background stamp. I hand-wrote the sentiment on the second card with a Stampin' Write marker. The owl is super easy to put together, especially if you make a whole batch of the little guys all at once.

Have a great day!

Supplies:
Stamps: Woodgrain background stamp, Picture This (retired)
Paper: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Whisper White, Real Red, Cottage Garden (retired)
Ink: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Two-Step Owl Punch, Two Step Bird Punch

Watercolour Trio Plant Pick

Here's a slightly different take on the card in my last post. Can you spot the differences? I needed to make a quick card to go with a potted plant, so I layered two Top Note die cuts, punched out the greeting with the Designer Label punch and wrote a message on the back. I happened to have the plastic pick lying around (don't ever throw those away!), so I slipped it in and I was done!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Watercolour Trio
Paper: Regal Rose, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake
Ink: Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Designer Label Punch, adhesive pearl

Watercolour Trio

I made this card a while back and never got around to posting it. This is one of my FAVOURITE sets from the Summer Mini Catalog! It's called Watercolour Trio, and it will only be available to order until August 31. This set makes really pretty cards quickly and easily, and you can combine the three flower/leaf images in it in an endless variety of ways. It also comes with three great sentiments and a little butterfly. I cased this card from Andrea Walford. I stamped off the Baja Breeze flowers once before stamping them onto the Very Vanilla cardstock to make them look softer.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Watercolour Trio
Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Square Lattice embossing folder, Matchbox die, adhesive pearls

Tropical Party Mini Pizza Box

Aloha stampers! I'm back from a wonderful, relaxing vacation in Hawaii. We got to spend 4 days on Oahu and 5 days on Maui, and loved both islands.

Today's project is definitely Hawaii-inspired. It's a mini pizza box that can fit 3x3 cards or a small gift. There is a great tutorial on how to make the box here on Splitcoast Stampers.

3-D Drink Card

I've seen these drink cards on Splitcoast before and they have always fascinated me. It amazes me what people's creative minds can come up with. Who would have thought, a 3-D cup effect on a card! I cased this particular one from Lorri Heiling, including the idea of putting the little drink packet inside. This was so much fun to make, and actually easier than I thought it would be.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Tropical Party, Tart and Tangy, Best Wishes and More (retired)
Paper: So Saffron, Melon Mambo, Whisper White, cardstock vellum, non-SU DP scrap (inside card)

Tropical Party Notepad

Here is the little notepad I covered as part of my Tropical Island Oasis Stationery Box. There is still room in the class on Tuesday evening if you're interested.

The notepad is from the dollar store; I simply uncoiled it, covered it with Rose Red cardstock and Island Oasis Designer Paper, and added the "journey" sentiment from Define Your Life. Click on the photo to see it bigger. I stamped off the small flower once before stamping it behind the greeting, so it wouldn't cover up the words. Re-punch the holes at the top, and twist the coil back through the holes. Super simple and cute; I could have added ribbon or other embellishments to further pretty it up, but I thought I'd keep it simple as I'll probably actually bring it with me on my trip to Hawaii to jot down lists and things. The little pink pen is from Staples; they come in a 12-pack, I believe.

Supplies:
Stamps: Define Your Life
Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red
Paper: Rose Red, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Island Oasis DSP
Accessories: Ticket Corner Punch, Corner Rounder Punch

Tropical Party Mini Cards

I made these little 2''x3'' cards as part of a stationery box set. They fit perfectly inside the Bigshot scallop envelopes. Although I don't usually reach for the Bold Brights, I love the juicy, cheerful colour combination of the Island Oasis DSP that coordinates with the Tropical Party stamp set. Both are available in the Summer Mini Catalogue until August 31. I also love the revamped Brights collection that Stampin' Up! went with for the Colour Renovation; the ten colours in the new Brights are now much more accessible and easy to use than the previous collection.

If you'd like to make these cards along with their matching stationery box set, come to the class on Tuesday, July 27 at 7 pm. The box contains 4 standard-size cards and envelopes, 4 mini cards and scallop envelopes, a notepad and pen. Contact me for more details or to register.

Supplies:
Stamps: Tropical Party, Tiny Tags, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, Tempting Turquoise
Paper: Island Oasis DSP, Whisper White

Because I Care

Have you seen this new Level 1 hostess set? It's called Because I Care, and it is absolutely beautiful and so easy to work with. You can earn this set for free with a qualifying order or workshop. Lots of new goodies on this card! I inked up the flower with Baja Breeze (a returning favourite - so glad it's back!) and "thumped" my Concord Crush marker over the flower. The stem and leaves were inked with Pear Pizazz, and the DSP is brand new as well; it's called Greenhouse Gala and coordinates perfectly with the new stamp set Friends Never Fade.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Supplies:
Stamps: Because I Care
Paper: Baja Breeze, Concord Crush, Very Vanilla, Greenhouse Gala DSP
Ink: Baja Breeze, Concord Crush marker, Pear Pizazz marker
Accessories: Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon

Clean & Simple FTL 98

I absolutely love the look of this week's sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping; everything looks better in threes, don't you think? I used the Little Leaves Sizzlits die and some scraps I had lying around to create this quick card. Swap out the DSP for a non-floral pattern, and this would even make a good masculine card. I hesitated when placing the sentiment in that spot; it seems a shame to cover up the lovely little leaves. I considered placing it underneath, but thought I would stay true to the sketch. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Night of Navy, Kiwi Kiss (retired), Urban Garden DSP (retired)
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: silver brads

Hi there! Sorry I've been missing in action for a little while. There's been lots to do these past two weeks with school wrapping up for the year. Soon, though, I will have much more stamping time - can't wait!

These little cuties are quick and fun to make. Angie Juda originated the idea, and you can see her video tutorial for them on her blog. She punches a hole through hers and adds a ring to make it a keychain. The cover measures 3 1/4 x 2; score at 1 9/16 & 1 11/16.

Get these items now while you still can!

This is a super simple, yet striking, card that can be made in under five minutes, and is great if you want to make a whole set of matching cards as a gift. I got the idea from the fabulously talented Becky Jensen. See her original card here.

Altered Composition Book

I {heart}...the smell of freshly brewed Stumptown coffee in the morning. Trust me, it's worth the trip to Portland to pick up the beans.

I {heart}...diving into a good book on a lazy summer day.

I {heart}...the arrival of the UPS man, who bears my Stampin' Up! goodies.

I made this altered composition book as part of my entry for the Iron Stamper's Competition I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I used a plain old composition book from the dollar store, and dressed it up by covering it with designer paper, cardstock and embellishments. I cut the paper to fit and sanded the edges slightly. I adhered the Pretty in Pink satin ribbon to the front and extended it inside to make a bookmark, weighing it down with flower diecuts and a filigree brad. This would make a great gift as a journal for a teenager, or even for a new mom to capture precious memories of all the things she {hearts} about her baby.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Supplies:
Paper: Love Sparkles Simply Scrappin' Kit
Ink: So Saffron, Regal Rose (for sponging the flower)
Accessories: Filigree Brad, Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon, Birds and Blooms Sizzlits, Scallop Trip border punch, Scallop Trim corner punch, Sanding Block

Clean & Simple FTL 92

This week's Clean & Simple layout was just what I needed! Unfortunately, I haven't had a whole lot of time to stamp lately, and I find that it's best to start simple when my mojo needs a jumpstart. I thought I'd make use of these three In Colours that will soon be retiring; they work well with the Tropical Party stamp set, don't they? The card is 3x3 and I popped up the smaller flower with a dimensional. This definitely qualifies as a five-minute card, but it could easily be stepped up with brads in the centre of the flowers, or some ribbon knotted around the width of the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Tropical Party, Flight of the Butterfly
Paper: Bermuda Bay, Dusty Durango, Whisper White
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch

Love Sparkles Scrapbook Layout

I recently took part in an Iron Stamper's Challenge in which each participant was given a Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin' kit and the task of creating 5 projects with it, including a scrapbook layout, a 5 minute card, a more advanced card, a 3-D item and an altered item. The kit I received was "Love Sparkles"(item 113918), which has a great coordinated selection of designer paper, cardstock and a ton of self-adhesive die cuts. This is the scrapbook layout I came up with; I took these photos of my friend's adorable daughter during spring break when my husband and I visited them in San Diego. She is such an animated little girl, so I thought they would be a fun set of photos to scrap. I added some punch art tulips in the bottom corner of the page to echo the tulips on her dress, and a few butterfly die cuts for interest.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Love You Much
Paper: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, Love Sparkles DSP

Clean & Simple FTL 87

I stamped this a few weeks ago but am only just getting around to sharing it now. Better late than never, right? I really like this sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping; it is simple, yet versatile. I "custom made" some designer paper by stamping the two flowers from Simple Friendship on the Whisper White piece, and sponged the edges of the Crushed Curry butterfly with Bermuda Bay. This colour combo is fresh, fun and so summery!
